Vestlyd M6C and M8C Active: Power Monitors With the Amplifier Already Inside

Vestlyd M8C Active and M6C Active in Black on a shelf above a record collection

Vestlyd built its name on passive Power Monitors, the V12C and V15C, that ask you to bring your own amplifier. The M6C Active and M8C Active drop that requirement. Four Class D amplifier channels live inside each cabinet, one per driver, so the whole system is two boxes, a power cable and whatever you want to plug in. Both landed at Soundium this week.

Watch It in Action

Active Bookshelf Speaker

Vestlyd M6C Active

A 6.5 inch coaxial driver, 4 x 75 W of PWM Class D behind it, and bass that holds to 43 Hz from a cabinet 36 cm tall. The rear panel is the interesting part: HDMI eARC for the TV, an XLR/jack combo, optical, USB-C, and an RCA input with a switchable phono MM stage, so a turntable goes straight in. Three voicings (music, film, neutral) plus bass and treble trim sit on rear buttons, and there is a sub out if you ever want more. The trade-off is that both cabinets need mains power and a link cable between them, which is the price of skipping the amplifier entirely. 899 EUR per pair, in Black or Oak, shipping in 7 to 10 working days.

Active Bookshelf Speaker

Vestlyd M8C Active

Same four amplifier channels, same connection list, bigger everything else: an 8 inch coaxial driver in a 44 cm cabinet, reaching 36 Hz at -6 dB. That is the headline, because it puts the M8C in subwoofer territory without a subwoofer. Kick drums and film low end arrive with weight that normally costs you a fourth box and another mains socket. It is genuinely large for a bookshelf speaker at 29 cm wide and 27 cm deep, so measure the shelf or plan for stands. 1149 EUR per pair, in Black or Oak, shipping in 7 to 10 working days.

Which One

Pick the M6C if the room is normal-sized, the speakers sit on a shelf or a desk, or the wall behind them is closer than you would like. Pick the M8C if you want the low end without a subwoofer and you have the space to give an 8 inch driver room to work. Everything else, the inputs, the voicings, the remote, the 35 mm pole socket, is identical between them. Both mount on the Vestlyd M-Stands (399 EUR per pair, 52.5 cm, bolted to the cabinet with cable routing inside the column), and both carry a 3 year warranty.
